Charlie is the Director of Internet of things (IoT) systems research Lab in Intel Labs Europe, he leads a team of researchers focused on the application of IoT Edge computing technologies across industry verticals such as Smart Cities, Autonomous Driving and Industry 4.0. Together with his team he leads an extensive research portfolio partnering with Intel business units, external academic and industry partners focused on the key technology challenges addressing IoT adoption. He has participated in several European Commission research projects and consulted with the EU Commission on IoT challenges. He chairs the Board of Directors for the Intel Collaborative Research Institute for Sustainable Connected Cities, with Imperial and University colleges London. He holds a number of patents on IoT technologies and co-authored 2 books on Data Centre energy efficiency strategies.
